Avatar Holdings Is Now AV Homes, Inc.

New Name.  Same Dependable Company.

On Feb. 15, 2012 Avatar Holdings Inc. changed its name to AV Homes, Inc.  The new name was chosen to communicate an unmistakable business identity to its customers while maintaining a linkage to its long and successful history.  The new name is one element of a much larger strategic planning initiative that was recently undertaken to allow the company to participate in the much anticipated rebound of the homebuilding sector.  Selected elements of the strategic plan, conducted with assistance from the real estate advisory firm RCLCO, include:

• A focus on the 55+ active adult market; a secondary focus on family communities
• Development of new product brands to serve the changing needs of the 55+ market
• Broadening the geographic footprint of the company
• A business model that is nimble, customer-savvy and operationally efficient
